 FFQ016 Pinwheel Squared
|
FFQ016 Pinwheel Squares. 35" x 43"
This was a very fun quilt to construct. It uses the 45 Degree Strip Ruler from Creative Grids (item #CGRSR45) or the template provided in the pattern. The pieces are all cut from 2 1/2" strips - either cut from your stash or purchased pre-cut. Four-patch blocks and simple pinwheels combine to create a whole different design. The constrast between the light and dark fabrics makes the illusion of a square on point show up in the finished project.

 FFQ017 Floating Stars
|
FFQ017 Floating Stars. 42" x 50"
The second in my series of quilts made from pre-cut 2 1/2" strips. It uses the 60 Degree Strip Ruler from Creative Grids (item #CGRSR60) or the template provided in the pattern. The pieces are all cut from 2 1/2" strips - either cut from your stash or a purchased pre-cut collection. The trick of this quilt is in the star points - no those aren't what you're expecting. The points float up away from the seam line so there's no chance of those points being lost in stitching. The quilt size can be a little larger or smaller based on the floating the star blocks with larger side setting triangles. Ah-h-h, now you understand the name!

Another in my series of quilts made using 2 1/2" strips. This one was made using the Bali Pop called Green Tea. I loved playing with the colors and pieced this randomly. The pattern uses the Trapezoid Strip Ruler from Creative Grids to cut the strips in a jiffy. A template is also provided in the pattern. The pattern also includes information for making this quilt larger or smaller based on the number of strips you have on hand and calculating materials for using braids as a border.
